In a simple language and for users to understand, SEO or Search Engine Optimization is something that helps your website appear on Search Engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc., organically.
What happens in SEO?
What happens in SEO is that when you create a website, it: –
- Is being crawled by a bot known as Google Bot or Spider
- Then, the crawler crawls your entire website, understands what the website is about, what the intent is, and goes back to the database where it stores all the information
- Once the website’s information is transferred in the database, it is stored there
- Now, when some user searches for a particular query, Google finds the queries intent, goes back to the database, and when he finds something relevant, Google shows the results as Blue Links or in AI Overview
- Hence, it is significant for all the SEOs our there to match the intent of the query and the specific page. Search volumes in today’s time are not necessary as the whole game is about intent
Where to start?
If you are new to SEO, I would suggest focus on
- Technical SEO – How the website is loading, working, any broken link issues are present
- Keyword Research
- On-page optimization like page title, description, header tags, etc.,
- Interlinking to the relevant pages
- Image Alt Text
- Content Strategy – What type of content is required for a particular website and what is its intent
